Crazy is an understatement!!!!

Wow I cannot believe how long it has been since I have written.  It really shows just how crazy life gets after marriage and 3 kids.

Lately things have been even more hectic because the husband is out of town a lot for work so now I'm essentially a single parent full time, working full time, and trying to do all other things that need to get done!

It's been 6 months that I have been juggling the new life style with the recent addition to our tribe baby Dahlia.  It's definitely been an interesting ride.  I have so many single friends and newly married friends who are like OMG how do you do it and I don't know if I can handle one baby.  Well listen up people 1 kid is manageable, NO LIE seriously it's cake, once you start adding to that yes it becomes challenging, but I would not have it any other way.  I love my kids and enjoy each and everyone of them I could live with out the tantrums and occasional whining! :)

I never thought I would be married with 3 kids if I were to rewind back to my twenties.  I just figured out I have been married for 7 years and wonder where did the time go.  I am truly grateful for all I have and count my blessings everyday.
I will take this crazy life over any other any day!!!

Just one week....

If only I could have one week where one of my kids does not get sick. I mean I know they are small and pick up stuff from school, but it really is like every week one of them gets something. Ugh... Not fun...Especially when you are a full time working mom and feel like a single mom because pretty much everything falls on me!
Just need to make it to the weekend!!!!!

Rules of Marriage to Live By!

I'm no expert by any means but now being married 7 years I've learned a lot. Overtime you grow and learn how to handle things!!

  1. Don't complain it does not get you anywhere!!! In other words don't be a nag nobody wants to feel like they are married to their mother.

  2. Use your words, don't scream or act a fool.

  3. Have a discussion not an argument always COMMUNICATE!

  4. Listen Listen Listen, very important if your significant other wants to unload or vent. Just be a set of ears!

  5. Choose your words carefully always respect eachother!

  6. Be a team working together is better then feeling you are on your own.

  7. Always make time for one another, sometimes when you have kids and the hecticness of life gets you caught up take time to smell the roses with your love one! Cannot stress enough date nights!

  8. Don't make mountains out of mole hills, always pick your battles. It's not worth picking fights over stupid things!

  9. Take time to compliment each other!

  10. Love love love love always remember to love!

Alot of these are common sense but I tell you it's good to keep it in mind and remember relationships are always work it's not a fairytale!!!

Very simple but true!!!

The bewitching hour!!!

Every day like clock work when I get home picking up the kids from preschool they both start acting nuts.. Mommy milk, mommy snack, mommy mommy mommy mommy.... yes it goes on and on like that for at least an hour if I'm lucky. I don't know what it is even if I pick them up earlier thinking okay maybe they will be calm or in a better mood, NO same thing each day and only with me!!! Ofcourse I love my little monsters, but seriously can I have a break at least once and awhile! It could be the age 2 and 3 1/2 IDK first it was terribles 2's now horrible 3's what's next!!! Let's see today I'm picking them up 2 hours early wonder if that will help, we shall see! One of the many fun moments of being a mom no doubt!

LisFranc Injury Sucks!!!

Never have broken anything before until last week that is. Yup it's going to sound like I'm a total idiot, but basically I took shop till you drop literally when I took a spill down some stairs while shopping at the Leesburg Outlet!!!! Totally sucks. I just had Surgery yesterday so I'm hopped up on pain meds and keeping my leg up. One pin, one screw, and one plate later in my left foot. It's going to be 5-6 weeks on crutches YAYYYY!!!! 3-4 months of walking around in an space boot well looks like one anyways and on a crutch. Then Physical therapy for another 5 weeks and oh joy another surgery at 6months later to remove all the hardware. Cannot resume normal physical activity or wearing heels till after 1 year!!!! Yes the heels part is a tradegy!!!! None the less I'll be blogging about this. It's been one week since the accident and I'm having major cabin fever!!!! It's amazing another thing I've realized through this is who my real friends and family are, because it's amazing how many people could care less to even inquire how I'm doing, yet I've always been a good friend!!!! Oh well live and learn! Better to figure this out sooner then later. I'm trying to stay positive and strong and hopefully I'll get through it quicker then others.

If I had a million dollars.......

So recently I heard about this guy on Youtube that basically uploaded a video and asked any rich people if they could spare a million bucks so he could be happy.... huh why didn't I think of that.... WTF? Okay so I guess I'm going to work that angle right here on my blog... So unlike the youtube guy I actually would like to lay out what I'd do if I had a million dollars. A million dollars these days may not be much to some, but I'll take it. First- I'd quit my job!!!! Yeah I would! Second- I'd start a business doing something I truly enjoy and would only care to make enough money not something excessive. Third- I'd travel the world and see all the places I've dreamed about going and I've never been too. Fourth- I'd be a philanthropist and start my own charity. Instead of participating in others which I don't mind I'd create my own for the causes that are near and dear to my heart. Fifth- I'd get my dream car :) w/ the flip doors.... Any luxury car w/ flip doors not picky! Ofcourse I guess if I want that million I better start playing the lottery or maybe I'll copy that guy and upload my video to Youtube and some billionaire with money to spare can hook me up !!!!! I can dream right!!! People who say money doesn't matter are BSin it does matter in fact with money you can live how you want to live. Trust me I'm grateful what I do have and never will take the things I have for granted, but some money wouldn't hurt to make some dreams a reality! Just a thought... Here's to all of us becoming richer in some way! ~R~

Friend come and Friends go....

As we get older we change and with that so do our friends. I have all types of friends: highschool friends, college friends, sorority sisters, work friends, childhood family friends, and newly met friends. One thing is for sure you may think you know someone well and you may know your so called "Friend" but a lot of times I'm proven wrong or right on my theory on them. I definitely consider myself a good friend. I try to be there for my friends to listen to give advice to spend time with when I can among my priorities of my family. But I've found out over time that some people are just down right rude or just don't value good friendship. I mean the best thing is to limit interaction with those type of people. Who knows why people are like that. I recently had a fall out with a friend the funny thing is that friend doesn't even know it yet, because she's too busy with all her superficial friends to care. I mean I'm irritated by it ,but I guess that is just life. One minute you are the greatest of friends and boom like a bomb that friendship explodes. I'm okay with it I just think like any relationship you have to just move on and keep going! All you can do is cherish the good memories from your friendships! When I was in my 20's I was okay with things I'd just let go of stuff or just not care if friends were flakey or unreliable. But now as I'm 31 I have a different prespective. Let go, move on and learn from your mistakes. Don't become a door mat for anyone no matter how much you think you are good friends with someone if they disrespect, don't really care, and are just plain rude. Time to say BYE BYE! Just saying that's all... My vent is over and out.... If you are someone's friends be a friend not just by name but in your actions. Sure life get's the best of you, but you can atleast make time whether it is a phone call, tweet, FB, whatever these days it is even easier to keep in touch!!!! ~R

Kids Today...

Seriously as I hear my niece or nephew who are considered tweens talking about what goes on in their age group it terrifies me with having kids grow up in today's society. I mean when I was 11 or 12 I seriously did not do or talk about 1/2 the things kids are up to today!!!! It's alarming! I mean my niece and nephew are luckily raised well and no the difference between right and wrong but they are faced with so much stuff kids their age should not be faced with. I mean there are kids picking on other kids for what clothes they have on, kids on facebook, kids having sex, doing drugs at 9 years old. Yeah 9 years old I was hearing in the news all about a 9 year old bring cocaine to school what's up with that!!!
Here is what I think if you are going to bring kids into this world you better BE A PARENT!!! Kids are born innocent and they are shaped by their environment. My mom was on my butt 24/7 like the CIA or FBI she always knew what was up and she was schooling me very young about everything. I mean I was scared of her she'd give me that look and it was "GAME OVER"! I could not pull anything on her. I think what she did will shape me to be a good and attentive parent. I mean I feel like some of these people just have kids and expect them to just figure shit out or raise themselves. Then you have teen moms and other messed up type having kids. It's sad there are people out there dying to have children, spending money, doing whatever to have their own kid. Then you have these people popping out kids that don't even have a clue about parenting and don't care! I mean times have changed and things are staring up younger and younger. I feel like some people allow their kids to act up and do rotten things.
My nephew talks about how superficial the kids are at school abercrombie this and Uggs that. I mean I like nice things but I don't wear them to rub it in other people's faces. You do you for you! Not to care what others think. I'm always giving my nieces and nephews advice and I pray for all kids because that is the world's future! So everyone should do their part to help kids learn what is right and be a role model! I'm just saying!

Just a thought not a sermon!

Fist pumpin fools!!!

Okay so I'll admit it I'm seriously a reality junky I don't know why, but my husband is always making fun of me when I do my ritual of watching Jersey Shore on JERSDAY!!! Yes I know I know WTF right... Okay but when I watch the show it's like my brain just goes on vacay. It's so ridiculous but I watch it the train wreck of a show. I probably am part of the problem when I'm watching the show and these punks are making 6million bucks. What did I do wrong, why didn't I ever try out for a reality show LOL!!!

I mean really Pauly D and I are the same age, so seriously we are on two different wave lengths when he's GTL all day long and I'm WGLKHD (Working my ass off, Gym to lose baby weight, Laundry which never ends, Kids driving me bananas, Husband to take care of actually another kid ;) and Dinner... OH YEAH OH YEAH... Tshirt time for me means cleaning the house in my tshirt.... They need make a reality show for real people like me doing it all!!!! In the mean time let me enjoy my silly show! :P

I think I'm in love....

So I did not think I'd be one to get sucked into being a twiheart or glued to the Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Series. I had seen all the movies so far but couldn't quite understand everyone's obsession. The movies were good but not "WOW". So I recently decided to read "Breaking Dawn" Meyer's 4th book in the series and soon to be on screen later this year. I thought what the heck let me see what all the fuss is about. Well I was truly sucked in I literally could not put the book down and my husband was like what is with you and that book SERIOUSLY!!!! So like the many other fans out there I must confess I now see the attraction to it. I mean the book was amazing and I LOVED it. I really can't wait to see how they play out the story on screen. I truly hope the movie does the book justice. The characters and the plot was amazing. The most amazing thing is the LOVE between the main characters. If you have not read any of the books I think you should read them you will definitely appreciate the author and the series. I have not read a book in awhile and I was a bit skeptic at first, but reading the book was exciting and I got lost in the book. I'm actually inspired to pick up reading and looking for some new reads.

Really can't wait till Nov 2011 when Part I Breaking Dawn comes out! I hope it will be as great as the book. I highly recommend it!

Tis the Season.....

I absolutely love this time of year. I think I'm such a kid when it comes to the holidays. I especially love the giving spirit and trying to help others have some holiday cheer! I can't stand the scrooge types that are moody and don't count their blessings!
I think the holidays are not just about the presents, but it's a time to count your blessings and hug those you love tighter and make time to enjoy those that you care about.

As the year draws to a close.... I'd like to mark some of my top highlights this year:

1. Having my second child Yasmine
2. Celebrating 5 years of marriage
3. Turning the big 30
4. Moving into a new group and job at work
5. Meeting new and wonderful people

Just a few things to be grateful for this past year. Really looking forward to 2011 and what's next! Counting my blessing very grateful for love ones, friends, good health, and my beautiful kids!

Being a Working mother stinks...

I mean it's hard enough being a mother it's a full time job and it's one that is bitter sweet. The tough part about being a working mother is having to leave your kids with a nanny or putting them in daycare.

It ticks me off I've gone through two nannys because they were awful and pretty much didn't do anything. Now I have both my kids in daycare which is harder in some aspects because they are not at home and exposed to so many things.
I also think that some of the staff is clueless when it comes to kids. There is so much BS they try to act like they are so wonderful and this and that... When it comes down to it nobody will treat your kids as you do or as a family member would.
I'm hoping to win the lottery or find a job where I can work from home full time and take care of my own kids. I hope that day comes soon!

I'm just saying that's all...

It's not an obssession it is a necessity....

So my husband cannot understand the obssession I have with handbags. I can't explain the feeling I get when I have a new designer hangbag. I'm like a kid in a candy store. I just can't get enough. I am especially a fan of Chanel handbags, (break the bank) the two I have were gifts from my mom. But there is just something about that classic leather Chanel handbag. Handbags just seal the deal when it comes to your outfit. Having a great handbag is just a necessity to completing your look.

I'm adding this must have Chanel bag for this winter to my Christmas wish list. (hmmm fingers crossed wink wink)
Ofcourse I do not discriminate when it comes to handbags there are many designers I love.
In fact I'm really excited about the latest addition to my closet. Lovely Michael Kors black Hobo bag with gold chains.

Coco Chanel said it best: "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."

Get involved and make a difference!

Charity and philanthropy is something I feel strongly about. There are some great events coming up with some really fabulous organizations. A lot of times I get people asking me what are some charities in DC I can volunteer or get involved with. DC has some of the most amazing foundations and charities. This month is an opportunity to go to these events and support some really great causes.

Becky'sFund- This organization helps foster awareness of domestic violence and promotes programs to create support for victims of domestic violence. Sept 28th 2010 Becky's Fund is having an event called "Walk this Way" charity fashion show. Check out the website for more details www.beckysfund.org. Why not do something charitable and have fun at the same time.

Tigerlilly Foundation-This organization's mission is to educate, advocate for, empower young women before, during, and after breast cancer. The founder of the foundation is a breast cancer survivor herself and a very courageous woman. Sept 29th 2010 2nd Annual Gala at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in DC. For more details checkout the website for this and other events coming up www.tigerlillyfoundation.com.

One Brick- This organization is great it has multiple volunteer and charity events for all kinds of different charities in the area. No long term commitment you can checkout the calendar on their website to select a volunteer opportunity that you are interested in. It's also a great chance to meet people and get involved. For more information check out www.onebrick.org.

There are many many more great causes to get involved in, but hopefully you can find something that interests you. I personally find it really rewarding.

Bye Bye Summer... Hello Fall

Fall is definitely my most favorite time of the year. Love the refreshing weather and cooler temps, the beautiful scenery as the leaves change colors, and most of all the fashion. Time to Fall in love with the Fall Fashion Trends for 2010, my top 5 faves are:

Black Out- You can never go wrong wearing black it is a flattering color on anyone. Well this year fall's trend is black on black on black. Head to toe that is.

Military Chic-Support the fall trend of military influenced fashion. Clean cuts with earth palettes of neutrals and olive greens. There are many different ways to rock this look whether you like the broken in military boots or military enhanced accessories. I particulary like the well tailored military jacket over a soft feminine dress.

Metallics-Bold Metallics are hot this season. Especially if you are going out for a night out on the town or maybe just out to dinner and you want to spice up your look. Go with a classic metallic blazer or maybe a metallic pencil skirt. Maybe just go all out with a chic metallic dress.

Velvets-Yes velvets are back I have not seen them in awhile, but they alive and back this Fall. Usually I'm not a fan of velvet, but there are actually some great looks this season with velvet. Velvet has the appeal to be a day time look that can be taken into the evening for a fancy affair. I'm loving this look with a mix of fabrics and accessories highlighted with the velvet top:

Turtleneck Dresses-I remember back in the day when I was a kid how I hated turtlenecks, they were such a thing of the past. But turtlenecks are rejuvinated into a stylish
way this Fall by being attached in dresses. They are cozy and warm as the cold weather makes it's way. Lovin this little number..

Ofcourse there are many other great Fall fashion trends to keep your eye out on. I definitely can't wait to break out some of these fall styles as soon as the weather gets colder.

The Office!!

What's the deal with CC on emails at work. I mean really I can't stand when work people have to CC everyone in mgmt to try and make you feel dumb.

Sample Email:

I think there is a better format for this. There is a template we used prior to your joining our team. Please use the attached template for future requests and follow the process in place.

Hmmmm let's see why couldn't you just walkover and tell me you sit right next to me oh and furthermore was it necessary to CC my manager your manager and the director. I think not!!!! Probably b/c you want to be an A$$! Turns out there is no process and the form the genius wanted me to use was out of date and the one I had used was the revised and most current. Seems somebody needs to follow the process and get with the program since he is senior on the team!!!

Hopefully he's one of the few that like to be CC happy, but I'm sure there are many others out there!!!
